Artist Statement

Pattern in nature is my inspiration. I focus on the small details that provide a sense of place. I want the viewer to see nature and its complexity in a new way. Much of my current work is centered around Wellfleet on Cape Cod, and in particular, the beaches at low tide. I spent childhood summers in Wellfleet and the flats at low tide were my playground. I work in water-based oils from my own photographs and sketches as well as those offered by friends who live or visit in Wellfleet.
